I think your points are pretty spot on but I can see myself using the iPad for many different uses. The slim profile of the iPad and excellent battery life make it an ideal tool in meetings, your agenda and all your reference material at your finger tips and not intrusive like a Laptop. I would have liked to see ink input for note taking but assuming the on screen keyboard works silently it may suffice instead. I can also imagine a portfolio case with paper pad on one side and iPad on the other. Too bad the 1st Gen device doesn't have a web cam as it would be an ideal way to capture those paper notes, business cards, receipts, meeting handouts and other items.

For those of us that travel extensively, the iPad provides a lot in a small package. Email, browsing, music, ebook reader, movies and games. Add apps for productivity such as Citrix, OmniFocus, iWork and you can complete most business and personal tasks on the road. Toss in a portable Bluetooth keyboard and mouse in the suitcase for use at the hotel and you're set.

Add to the above web browsing, checking email, ebook reading on the couch, in bed, on the plane or train for all round use. I can't wait to get my hands on a 3G iPad to put it to use. My MacBook Pro will remain my work horse but when travelling, attending meetings or laying in bed, the iPad will be coming along for the journey.

totally agree...
I can't see where this fits in the market right now...but I'm sure it will be a hit...though I suspect most people will buy it without really thinking and perhaps regret the decision later, and go back to their iphone or ipod touch.

One use case that sounded good came from my videographer friend, who wants to use it to show reels and demos to clients rather than on a laptop. makes it a bit more slick for presentation and interaction...so that seems fair enough, but of course, it should be widescreen and higher resolution too...
